It's simple....match CYC kids (High School or College) for full or part-time summer gigs at a company (paid or not). CYC is bubbling with smart, energetic kids...we are looking to nurture them into effective contributors to the greater community. We have been doing this intern-matching on a very low key and casual way in the past, but now we're putting more structure around it.
Thanks to companies that have provided internships:
- MSI Security
- Pepsico
- Compcierge USA
- Arbitron
- NATEK Inc.
- ICF Macro
- Blue Stone Recoveries

WASHINGTON, D.C. - OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, a national membership driven organization dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans (APAs), is proud to announce that the 2013 OCA National Convention will take place from Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.
The OCA National Convention is one of the preeminent annual events for the APA community, drawing thousands of chapter members, affiliates, and partners from across the country for a four day conference that highlights OCA’s mission of empowerment through engagement.
“As we celebrate our 40th Year Anniversary, the 2013 OCA National Convention is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our tremendous accomplishments and look to the future of the rapidly growing APA community,” says Sharon M. Wong, OCA National President. “We look forward to welcoming thousands of APAs from our chapters, affiliates, and partners from across the country to the nation’s capital for this special event.”
This year’s convention theme of “Celebrating 40 Years of Advocacy & Empowerment,” is a unique opportunity to look back at OCA’s accomplished history in civil rights as well as looking forward toward an organizational vision that seeks to further empower APAs through engagement. The OCA National Convention is one of the largest gatherings of APAs from around the country and features a robust program including:
- Workshops and Plenaries that address social, political, and cultural issues
- Youth and College Programming
- An Exhibit Hall featuring corporate, non-profit, and community partners
- Small Business Seminars for APA Entrepreneurs
- B3 Emerging APA Professionals Track
- The OCA Community Welcome Reception
- A Night at the Newseum
- OCA Gala Awards
"Since 1984, I have been a proud member of OCA, an organization at the forefront of the AAPI community advocating to improving the livelihood of AAPIs. When OCA was founded, Richard Nixon was President of the United States. Forty years later we have an African American President! In 1973, there were four AAPI Members of Congress. In 2013, we have a record 13 AAPI Members of Congress! OCA started off with 3 chapters and today we still have those three charter chapters - St. Louis, Detroit and D.C. - plus 47 others,” says Daphne Kwok, Chair of OCA’s 40th Anniversary and former OCA Executive Director. “Unfortunately, OCA's mission is not complete. As we have matured as individuals and as an organization, we must all become advocates - OCA Advocates. So let us all pledge as a birthday present to OCA to be fully engaged members, partners, and supporters of an organization that continues to make a difference each and every day.”
“Our chapters are extremely excited and proud to bring OCA’s 2013 National Convention back to Washington, DC to celebrate OCA’s 40th Year of advocacy and empowerment,” says Convention Co-Chairs Emma Wong and Michele Kee. “We look forward to meeting with members, colleagues, and community advocates from across the United States for this monumental occasion.”
