The Chinese Youth Club (CYC) is a non-profit organization that promotes, organizes and supports athletic, cultural and educational opportunities for Asian American youth and their families. Our goal is to promote leadership and academic excellence among Asian American youth and enrich the lives of Asian American youth through participation in cultural, athletic, and community activities. Enrichment also extends to the families of the Asian American youth as family members are active and involved in these opportunities.
There are two primary athletic programs which include BASKETBALL and VOLLEYBALL. Although CYC participates in traditional 6 man volleyball, volleyball also includes a unique form of the sport called 9-man. This game originated in 1937 and became known as the North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament, which has been played every Labor Day weekend since inception. Teams from all across the United States and Canada participate in this annual event. CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS Our primary cultural program is the CHINESE LION DANCE. CYC is proud to be consistently and intricately involved with the annual Chinese New Year's Celebrations as well as several other celebrations associated with Asian culture. These cultural events afford us the opportunity to share our Chinese Lion Dance performances with the community. CYC Lion Dancing has expanded to various other venues such as weddings, charity events, restaurant openings, cultural celebrations, political gatherings, parades, and countless other special occasions. Furthermore, CYC actively participates in other facets of the community, including: - coordinating mentoring programs - community service - youth tutoring - family association picnics - charity golf outings EDUCATION PROGRAMS With an eye on the future, we have implemented various college scholarship programs as well as a Summer Intern Matching Program. We call the program "CYC SIMPLY", Summer Intern Matching Program Loves You. We match CYC youth for full and part-time summer positions at various companies in the metro area. This program provides CYC youth with the invaluable experience working with senior CYC members in the business world. If you are interested in participating in any of our programs, contact us:
