CYC BASKETBALL HISTORY
The Washington CYC Basketball program began in the early to mid 90’s.  We became more dedicated
as a team during 1995 in preparation for the 1996 Boston NACBAIT. Up until that time, Washington has
not had an official representative on the National scene since the Wing Wor teams of the 1980's.
Since then, we have participated in Nationals, innumerable East Coast tournaments, and even traveled
to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas in an effort to face the highest level of competition
available in Asian basketball.  In addition, we have hosted countless CYC Invitational Basketball
Tournaments since 1999 in order to provide other teams with the opportunity to take part in a structured
and competitive atmosphere.  We have expanded our program to include men teams, women teams,
senior men teams, and boys junior teams for the 18 & under, 16 & under, and 14 & under divisions.

In 2002, Washington CYC Basketball was also designated as the host city for the 2002 North
American Chinese Invitational Basketball Tournament (NACBAIT), which was held over the
Memorial Day Weekend in Boyds, Maryland. We were also one of the main organizations
contributing to host the 2007 NACBAIT in Mesa, Arizona, and the 2009 NACBAIT in Ft Lauderdale,
Florida.

Although most of the original players of the CYC teams of the 1990's no longer are major
players on the men’s A team, many have moved on to coaching or on “B” team roles as we
continue to promote the growth of CYC Basketball.  Chris Lee on the CYC “A” team was named
to the NACBA's Top 25 Men Players of the past 25 years in 2005.  Kalyn Lee on the women’s
China Dolls was also named to the NACBA's Top 10 Women's Players of the past 10 years in 2008.
