| CYC BASKETBALL PROGRAM |

CYC provides opportunities for many youths to make positive contributions to their community through participation, community service, and leadership in public activities, athletic competitions and cultural events. We provide a basketball program for the youth (ages 9 -18) to promote good sportsmanship, and leadership skills, as well as their basketball skills. The leadership skills will help them in school and work while having fun and meeting new friends. Our intention is to promote the game of basketball of all skill levels in the Washington, DC Asian American community. We are also dedicated to assembling and sponsoring high level Mens and Womens teams to compete in tournaments and leagues throughout North America. The CYC China Dolls, CYC Mens "A" team, CYC Mens "B" team, and also the CYC Mens Senior (35+, 45+) teams have been standout teams for decades. The core of the current Washington CYC Basketball program was established in the early to mid 90's. CYC participates in local Chinese Leagues, Recreation Leagues, and local and national tournaments. Today CYC consists of hundreds of young people ranging from ages 13 to 60. Off the basketball court, we are a closely-knit group. This closeness translates into an ability to support each other at all times, and has been a large factor in the success of CYC Basketball. Another factor that has aided us immensely has been the unbelievable support that our friends and family have given us. Whether through financial support, cheering us on during our games and tournaments, helping out with CYC Invitational Basketball Tournaments, or just simply being there to lend us moral support, they have always supported our endeavors. We appreciate all the immeasurable ways that members of the club has been there for us, and we would like to dedicate all of our past, and present accomplishments to KEEPING THE TRADITION ALIVE for future generations.
