The CYC Lion Dance Team will be performing at the Potomac Library. Please join us as we share Chinese culture and raise awareness in our local community through this special lion dance performance.

The CYC Lion Dance team will be performing at MGM National Harbor to celebrate Lunar New Year. Enjoy a ceremonial dragon and lion dance meant to bring good fortune to all who encounter it. Follow the performance as it begins in the casino valet and moves through the conservatory.

On Sunday, February 16, CYC, in collaboration with partner organizations, is bringing back the tradition of blessing local restaurants in Chinatown on New Year’s Eve.

2:00–5:00 PM | Chinatown Culture Walk
Families and juniors are invited to join a guided culture walk to learn about Chinese New Year traditions and Chinatown history from community members who grew up there.

• Registration is required. Please RSVP by completing the registration form.

• All participating students are eligible to receive SSL hours.

• Lion dancers will depart early from the walk to prepare for the restaurant blessings.

4:30 PM | Junior Lion Dance Team Meet-Up
Juniors who plan to participate in the restaurant blessings should meet in Chinatown at 4:30 PM (meeting location TBD).

4:30–6:30 PM | Restaurant Blessings
The CYC Junior Lion Dance Team will lead restaurant blessings throughout Chinatown.

• If you plan to attend the restaurant blessings, please RSVP via the Google invitation or by emailing CYC at liondancecyc@gmail.com.

CYC will be participating in the DC Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade. All are welcome to join.

Meet at Wah Luck House (800 6th St NW, Washington, DC 20001)

• Set up starts at 9am. All are welcome to help if they can.

• Seniors & Musicians: Please arrive no later than 10am.

• Juniors: Please arrive no later than 12pm.

• We will line up for the parade at 1:00pm. The parade starts at 2:00.

We encourage you to arrive as early as possible because there's plenty of set up to be done and parking is limited. Everyone is responsible for their own parking.

UNIFORMS: Performers should wear the usual CYC shirt, sash, black pants, and if possible, black shoes.

PARENTS & COMMUNITY MEMBERS: You are welcome to join us in the parade. Please wear your community CYC shirt. If you do not have one, we should have some to give you. 

NEW PARENTS: This is a very long day. Please help us by making sure your children are dressed appropriately, have enough snacks, take necessary breaks, and are supervised when they aren't performing or actively helping.
